Clearing up acne you have is one thing, but preventing future breakouts is another. If you are constantly putting garbage into your body, you are going to constantly get garbage out and it will show in your body's largest organ - your skin. The more finely tuned your body’s natural processes are the faster your skin will clear up and the more it will prevent future outbreaks. Simple diet changes are easy ways to speed up this process.
I do not know of any diet that can come close to what my father, K. C. Craichy, has set forth in his book The Super Health Diet. There are more research studies that validate his Four Corners of Superfood Nutrition than any other nutritional approach in existence. It is a lifestyle approach that provides a comprehensive foundation for new levels of health awareness and life enhancement for everyone from elite athletes to the health challenged, who suffer from conditions such as diabetes, hypoglycemia, obesity, and eating disorders. What is unique about the Four Corners concept is that the individual four corners have been integrated into a single “unified theory” of nutrition science, including:
Eating fewer calories while maintaining optimal levels of all essential nutrients— Calorie Restriction with Optimal Nutrition, or CRON.
Eating and supplementing with generous amounts of broad-spectrum antioxidants.
Eating low glycemic impact foods and minimizing sugar.
Eating high quality foundational and fuel fats and supplementing with antioxidant essential fatty acids.
In my dad’s book, he has a handy “At-a-Glance Foods to Eat and Foods to Avoid” that he graciously agreed to let me include for your health benefit:
Beverages
Drink 8 to 12 glasses of spring water a day.
Drink lightly caffeinated or caffeine-free organic herbal teas.
Minimize fruit juices (except when mixed with high protein/fiber).
Eliminate all soft drinks.
Minimize coffee, alcoholic beverages, and artificial sweeteners.
Foods
Eat a variety of salads, green vegetables, and bright colored, above-ground vegetables. Some good choices include broccoli, spinach, kale, mixed greens, asparagus, green beans, peppers, cucumbers, barley greens, radishes, garlic, and onions.
Eat organic, free-range eggs.
Eat berries (cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries).
Eat organic chicken, turkey, grass-fed beef and wild game, such as venison, buffalo, lamb, and deer.
Eat antioxidant protected fish oil and certified mercury-free Pacific salmon, summer flounder, haddock, anchovies, and sardines. See www.vitalchoice.com.
Use coconut oil, virgin olive oil, GLA, conjugated linolenic acid (CLA), and raw organic butter.
Use Celtic Sea Salt or Real Salt brand mineral sea salts.
Eat almonds, cashews, macadamia, and other nuts as well as organic coconut.
Minimize all grains (bread, rice, and cereal), especially refined grains such as starches; avoid junk foods, pizza, and anything deep fried, such as french fries.
Minimize pasteurized dairy products, such as milk, cheese, and cream.
Minimize grain-fed commercial beef, pork products, and shellfish.
Avoid farm-raised fish, such as catfish or salmon, and other fish with high mercury levels, such as tuna.
Completely avoid hydrogenated oils found in processed foods, commercially prepared baked goods, margarines, and many snacks.
Minimize all sugars (candy, cookies, cakes, and syrups) and chips.
